If you are suffering from a reoccurring injury, are overweight, being
treated for high blood pressure or have a medical condition you can
take part in the referral scheme. This is structured in two parts:
After being referred from your Doctor you will have a 30 minute consultation
(part one) in which medical screening is carried out. A
specific programme is designed and a date is set (part 2) for you
to come back and go through your exercise programme with an Exercise
Referral Consultant.
The referral will last for one year and will entitle you to a reduced
rate when using the Gym.
How do I get on the Scheme?
Step 1 • Referral & Making the Appointment
You can be referred from your Doctor, Nurse or Physiotherapist.
They will give you a prescription to exercise for 6 months. You
will need to contact Verwood Leisure Centre to book a consultation.
Step 2 •• The Consultation
On your first consultation we will discuss medical history and
any medical conditions you may have. We will discuss short term
and long term goals to help improve your Health and fitness. A
follow up appointment will be made to start your specially designed
programme.
Step 3 ••• The Follow Up Appointment
You will be taken through your personalised exercise programme
with your instructor on hand to supervise and advise you of safe
and effective technique.
Step 4 •••• Starting Your Programme
We can offer supervised sessions in the gym, where there will be
an instructor on hand to monitor, give you advice and guidance.
We recommend you book in for these to start off with and then once
you feel confident you can start using the gym on your own.
Step 5 ••••• Programme Review
The instructor will book you in for programme reviews at 8 and
16 weeks to discuss and advance your programme and at 24 (the end
of your exercise prescription) to discuss the next step/options
available to you.
